Things have gotten so bad in Afghanistan that they're having armed robberies to steal some flour.

Inscriptions and your government

I didn't know what a Leatherman Micra was. I had to look it up.

But, the DEA knows what it is and they want to give them to agents. With an inscription to ensure they don't forget how important a focus on civil forfeiture is to the security of our country. Because if our government isn't seizing your property then the terroists will have won.

I want the guy who's been up doing cocaine all night because he'll be awake and alert at 3 am. We don't want some woman waking up at 3 am and wondering where her husband is to answer that phone.

Pick your relatives carefully

A guy in California is being held in a Federal lockup, without bail, on a charge of the crime of giving his brother some money. No bail.

By Thursday, the Solicitor General is expected to file a petition with the US Supreme Courtexplaining why the the United States should lock people up indefinitely on the sayso of some Afgan tribal chief without access to courts, a defense, or without making any kind of criminal charges. I assume the brief will refer directly to private conversations between Bush and God authorizing the behavior.

War Crimes

We really just have a government of war criminals. There's just no other way to characterize it.

Basically our official position is that it's not torture if we can't think of anything else to do. This is just nuts, it's standard rhetoric to rationialize criminal behavior that you can hear from inmates in pretty much any prison in the world. "It's not my fault, I wouldn't have had to kill him if he'd have just given me the money like I told him to".

Contraband skivvies

This is just too funny for comment.

Guards at the Guantanamo Bay prison camp found two prisoners sporting unauthorized underwear, and the U.S. military is investigating to determine how they got the contraband.

Germany says it foiled bomb plot

Germany says it foiled bomb plot is what the headline says.

The part that should be important to American's is that they did it with police work, not by military invasion and they bomb planners are being prosecuted in German Federal Courts, not in courts in secret prisons hide away in some 3^rd world country.

288 terrorists

This is another old post I was going to write but never got around to it.

Back in 2006, On Monday, Sep 11, AG Gonzales claimed we've convicted 288 terrorists to date.

What the hell wass he talking about? What did we convict them of? Drinking bottled water in an airport?
