The flock of sheep

The Chicago Tribune has a story about how easy it is to fleece religious types.

I guess it's not surprising. If you can believe in magic beings who live in the clouds then you can pretty much swallow anything.

Pretty short-side post there chief. Just because you're not enlightened enough to believe anything that cannot be proven with Calculus doesn't mean it's not true. As an aside what brought you to good ol' Oklahoma? I've lived here in Edmond for 20+ years and it's nice to see other people come to their senses and move to an affordable place to live with nice people and plenty to do(once you actually leave BFE of small towns and enter OKC or other decent sized cities in the metro).

You do know that makes no sense at all, right?

It doesn't matter what I beleive. We live in a country with a President who thinks he's doing God's will by killing non-believers. He's insane and most of American accepts it because they believe that it's actually possible that he really is doing God's will.

I know that probably seems just fine to you. It scares me.

The society her in Cushing is very insular. When I went to get a library card I had to give them two names of someone I knew in town who had a listing in the phone book. You can't be a library card here if you're new to town.

I'm not sure I'd call those who want to shut out outsiders in that way nice people. Do they even know that many people these days don't even have a landline phone? My phone has a Gulfport, MS phone number.
