The
Balkinization blog has a timely essay about America's tradition of treating prisoners humanely. In particular the treatment of prisoner's of war. During the Revolutionary war the British treated American POWs terribly, a very, very high proportion of of them died from torture and starvation in British camps. In some cases the British just put American prisoners on ships and openly starved them in New York harbor.
We sure have changed.Labels: Torture
